BSE- Capital Market Awareness By Ms Suvarna Joshi

Guest lecture was organised for First and Second year MBA students on 18th October, 2014, on BSE- Capital Market Awareness. The invited speaker was Ms Suvarna Joshi, Vice President, Lotus Knowlwealth (LKW). 


The guest lecture was planned well by the resource person which educated the junior and senior batch of students about the detail information on capital market. The very session touched upon various avenues under capital market such as what is a stock market, how does it operate, why there are fluctuations in the market, how does this fluctuations caused , e- trading and many more. Overall the guest lecture not only made the students aware of stock market but also gave additional input in the stream of finance.

Teacher's and Fresher's day Celebration

The MBA students of Shree Devi Institute of Technology, celebrated Teacher's cum Fresher's day on 30th September, 2014 at Auditorium in a grand way. Mr U Rajnikanth, Manager, Learning and Development, MCF was the esteemed guest for the programme. Faculties were honored for their noble profession and for their selfless service.



Dr Dilip Kumar K, presided over the programme and remarked his presidential address by stating that teachers resemble a candle which lights itself to light the future of the other. He was very happy to witness the programme which was planned and professionally executed by the student's to honor their teachers and welcome the junior batch of MBA students. 

Ms Sumayya and Madhurima compered the programme. Mrs Soumya Shetty was the co-ordinator for the programme.

How about starting your own ?


An invited guest lecture was delivered by Mr. Sunil Bedi, Proprietor, D S Group and Impirial Builders on 3rd September, 2014. The guest lecture was on the most happening topic - How about starting on your own? This lecture was actively attended by the first and second year MBA students. 

Mr Sunil Bedi, highlighted on his personal and practical experience on having established his own platform in business. He also emphasized on the fact that multitasking as well as timely update on business scenario would be always helpful and would be a guiding path for management students to plan for their career achievement.   Overall the guest lecture was very informative as well as fruitful in widening the scope of learning on the real aspects of business.

Alternative Career Paths.

A guest lecture was scheduled on 20th August, 2014 for MBA students on Alternative Career Paths by Mr Madhukar S M, Managing Partner, Design Block Interior Solutions, Anveshan Retail.

The speaker lectured on the various initiatives one can take up and design their own  alternative career paths. He also mentioned the practical instances of youngsters who have created their own career paths and have been known as entrepreneurs. Altogether the guest lecture turned out to be very informative session which not only imparted wide range of information but also generated stimulative stroke for management students to start up and build their career.

Internet Entrepreneurship


An invited guest lecture was delivered by Mr Shan Mundo, Founder CEO, Kiran Technologies Mangalore on 5th May,2014. The MBA and MCA students attended this lecture. Mr Shan highlighted the various opportunities available for entrepreneurship using internet. 


Mr Shan has been associated with various corporate as a consultant. His experience also shows his success as an international trainer. He is currently a director for 7 companies both in India and abroad. Mr Shan is a specialist in internet marketing and holds expertise with regards to all the aspects that help growing businesses using internet.

Invited guest lecture by Preethi D'Souza

Guest Lecture was organized for the first year students of Department of Business Administration and students of Department of Computer Applications on 30th April, 2014. The invited speaker was Mrs. Preethi Keerthi D Souza, Assistant Professor, Department of Post Graduate studies and Research in Commerce, Mangalore University, Karnataka. Mrs Preethi Keerthi D'Souza delivered her lecture on an interesting yet very important topic, Higher studies and soft skills. The information shared was elaborative to the students in giving a wakening call for the competencies that they require to develop in order to lead a happy life. 

Altogether the lecture highlighted some of the competencies such like communication, strategic action competency, multicultural competency, self management competency and leadership competency which every student should think of inculcating and developing the same. Moreover, the entire session was a bunch of entertainment and knowledge enhancing as the speaker presented various different aspects in a more simple way which was very informative and up to the level of students.

Annual College Day 2014


The annual college day celebration of Shree Devi Institute of Technology was held on 26th April, 2014 at Loyola Hall, Mangalore. Dr M. Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodabidri was the chief guest of the function. In his speech he said that students take their academics as well as their talents casually, rather they should have a right attitude, dedication, hard work, discipline and strong will-power. He also suggested that in this competitive world to grab opportunities, students need to develop professional and technical skills, then only they will be able to achieve their goal. Mr T. Gautham Pai, Managing Director of Manipal Technologies Ltd, Manipal was the guest of honour and in his speech he gave clear cut idea to achieve the goal by identify the strength in oneself and to develop it. He also emphasised on the habit of continuous learning which will convert ones dreams into success. Sri A. Sadananda Shetty, Chairman, Shree Devi Education Trust, presided over the function. Convener of Annual college day Ms Vidya G., H.O.D., Department of Mathematics, welcomed the gathering. Mr Suraj Francis Noronha, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, introduced the guests and Dr Dilip Kumar K., Principal of SDIT, presented the annual report. Mr Nidhish Shetty, Vice Chairman of SDET, Mrs Maina.S.Shetty, Secretary of SDET., and Mrs. Priyanka N. Shetty, Trustee, SDET were also present on the dais.

On this occasion the HOD of Chemistry department Dr Vijaya D. P. Alva was  felicitated by the dignitaries for her completion of PhD. Ms Raksha, student of M.C.A was also felicitated by the dignitaries for her laurels for securing 3rd rank in VTU for the year 2012-13.

Mrs Latha D., Assistant Professor, Department of Physics proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Shiva Kiran Alva and Ms Sanjana Raj were the MC for the formal programme. During the formal function prizes were distributed to the students for their academic and extracurricular performance. Students of SDIT after the formal function entertained the audience by showcasing various cultural performances.

The H.O.D.’s of various departments, the staff, the students of SDIT and their parents were present for the function.
