Lecture on Cross Cultural Diversity

Dr Anjali Ganesh

An invited guest lecture was delivered by Dr Anjali Ganesh, Professor, Department of Business Administration, St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, Mangalore on 15th February, 2014 at the Seminar Hall, SDIT on the topic “Impact of Cross Cultural Diversity on people practices – International context”. 

The knowledge sharing process was very effective as Dr Anjali Ganesh elaborated on the overview of Brazil which she had visited and how it differs from India in terms of culture, dressing, preference, language, adaptability of an individual into organization culture and context. Altogether this session was a virtual trip for the students to Brazil in understanding their cross cultural differences and its prominence. 

Lecture on Supply Chain Management of Petroleum Products in India

Mr M. L. Sahayadass

Mr M. L. Sahayadass, Sr Manager Distribution Retail - West, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Chairman, CTCC delivered an invited guest lecture to the MBA students on 14th February, 2014 on the topic Supply Chain Management and logistics of Petroleum Products.The lecture was organised by the Department of Business Administration, SDIT to help the students understand the practical aspects of supply chain management.

Mr Sahayadass having more than 30 years of experience in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, spoke about the various petro-chemical products and highlighted on the petroleum distribution pattern in India. The session was very informative and provided practical knowledge on the distribution of petroleum products to the students.

Workshop on inflation and monetary policies

A workshop on Economics was organised the Department of Business Administration, SDIT on 11th February, 2014 at the Seminar Hall, SDIT. The resource person of the workshop was Dr Nagendra S., H.O.D. and Assistant Professor, Department of MA Economics, Cauvery Centre for P.G. Studies, Cauvery College, Gonikoppal.

Dr Nagendra highlighted factor determining for the credit worthy buyer, strategies of monetary and fiscal policies, dangers of fiscal deficit and also described the Laffer curve which shows the negative impact of the hike in tax rate after certain points which lowers the revenue to the Government.

Shefin Jaffer gets Second place in Paper Presentation

Mr Shefin Jaffer, Second year, MBA student of Shree Devi Institute of Technology has successfully presented a paper titled "Employee retention strategies: Getting good staff is just half of the battle and the other half is to keep them" and won the second place in Paper Presentation for the Inter-Collegiate HR fest for P.G. Students held on 30th January, 2014 at Srinivas Institute of Management Studies, Mangalore.

Graduation Ceremony

The Graduation Day 2014 of Shree Devi Institute of Technology was held on 25th January, 2014 at T. V. Ramana Pai Hall, Mangalore. The students passed out in the year 2013 participated in the ceremony. Shri A. Sadananda Shetty, Chairman, Shree Devi Education Trust presided over the function. Dr Dilip Kumar K., Principal, SDIT welcomed the gathering and administered the oath.

Financial Planning using Mutual Funds

The Department of Business Administration, organized an invited guest lecture for the second year MBA students on 16th January, 2014 by Mr Ashok Kumar. He is the Promoter and Managing Director - Lotus Knowl Wealth who enlightened the students on the topic Financial Planning using Mutual Funds.

Through his sharing the speaker highlighted various avenues of financial planning with the help of mutual funds, financial life cycle where each one belongs and also the mantra to tackle unpredictable market.

Industrial Visit for First Year MBA Students

The First year MBA students of SDIT, Mangalore visited Campco Ltd, Puttur and Bindu Packaging Drinking Water,Nari Mogru, Puttur on 23rd November, 2013. The students experienced and learnt about the operations inside the Campco Ltd (Chocolate Factory) and Bindu Packaging Drinking Water. Mr Naveen Kumar, Asst. Professor accompanied the students.

Freshers Welcome Program

The Second MBA students of SDIT oganised freshers welcome program on 8th October, 2013 at the Auditorium, New P. G. Building. The chief guest of the formal function was Dr Jagadish V. Kamath, Principal, Shree Devi College of Pharmacy, Kenjar. Dr Dilip Kumar K., Principal, SDIT Presided over the function. Lt Cdr (Prof.) P. K. Suresh Kumar, H.O.D. welcomed the gathering. Mr Sandesh Shetty, Class Representative, Second Year MBA, Faculy members, Second year and First year MBA students were present for the program.

Various cultural programs and games were conducted by the students to facilitate interaction between the first and the second year MBA students.
