ERP made simple by Arun Chandra

A guest lecture on Enterprise Resource Planning, was organised by the Department of Business Administration (MBA), Shree Devi Institute of Technology on 19th December 2012 from 3:00 to 5:00pm for the MBA students. The Lecture was delivered by Mr Arun Navin Chandra, Strategic Accounts Manager, Dexler Information Solutions, Mangalore. He briefed about the importance of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and highlighted the practical application of ERP in the companies today. 


Dr. K. E. Prakash, Principal, Shree Devi Institute of Technology presided over the function. Prof. (Lt Cdr.) P. K. Suresh Kumar, HOD, Department of Business Administration, SDIT welcomed and introduced the resource person. Mr Shifin Jaffer was the Master of the Ceremony. The First year MBA students and the staff members attended this interactive lecture.

Interactive Session on Business Communication & Leadership Skills

The Department of Business Administration, Shree Devi Institute of Technology, organised a guest lecture on Business Communication and Leadership Skills. Mr. Ajay G. Prasad, an energetic person was the resource person for the day and had captured the audience with his charm. He is Corporate trainer currently working with Envoy Mortgage India Pvt. Ltd as a soft skill vertical and is responsible for the seamless delivery of soft skill training.

Mr. Prasad spoke on how communication pays a very important role in the business. He elaborated on what role the non verbal communication plays in the present day business. He also emphasised on how the different cultures and country have different ways of communicating even while using the common language like English. Talking about Leadership, he stressed on how a leader is different from a manager and a person should be inspired to be a leader.

Dr K. E. Prakash, Principal, SDIT presided over the function. Prof. (Lt. Cdr.) P. K. Suresh Kumar, HOD, of the Department of Business Administration, SDIT welcomed the gathering. Prayer song was led by Mr Nitin Patteri. The session was very educative as the spokesperson used his personal experiences as examples for various situations and interacted with the audience by answering all the queries. Mr. Arun P. Puthuparambil proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Shishira Raj M. was the master of the ceremony.

Prof. Raghunandan enlightened the MBA students on the effects of FDI Entry into Retail in India

The Department of Business Administration (MBA) organised a guest lecture on FDI: Entry into Retail on 5th December 2012 from 3:00 to 5:00pm for the MBA students. The Lecture was delivered by Prof. B. V. Raghunandan. He briefed about impact of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail industry in India and highlighted the pros and cons of the entry of major retail giant to the Indian retail market. He also clarified how the various political parties are trying to take political mileage from the issue. FDI creates new opportunities for the people to work in, he added. There was also a comparision made for the opposition to the computerisation of the banks and how there was opposition to it but it has not reduced in less jobs but created more jobs for the software engineers to write software and more demand for people with technical knowledge.

Prof. Raghunandan is a Professor at S. V. S. College, Bantwal. He is a exemplary speaker and a prolific writer in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Environment and Energy. He has authored several books widely referred by the students and the faculty at the graduate and post graduate level.
