Annual Sport Day 2014

The Annual Sports day was held on 20th February 2014 at the Mangala Stadium, Mangalore.

Mr  Joel Melwyn Fernandes, Second Year MBA student won the First place in 800 meters and First place in  400 meters.

Mr Vinod Manoj Saldanha, Second Year MBA student won the Third place in 400 meters.


Ms Ashraya N Shetty, First Year MBA student won the First place in 200 meters and Second place in  100 meter.
Ms Manisha Shetty, First year MBA student won the First place in shot-put.

The SDIT - MBA team won the First place in 4 X 100 meters girls relay.

Open Source Software and its impact on the business


The Department of Business Administration organised an invited guest lecture on Open Source Software and its impact on the business by Prof Edwin on 19th Feb, 2014 at the Seminar Hall, New P. G. Block, SDIT. Prof Edwin is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He has a vast teaching and research experience. For the past twelve years he has been researching on Open Source Software including Linux Operating Systems focusing most recently on "Live" Distribution and their applicability here in India both for the masses as well as for Outsourcing Operations. He has given lectures in New Delhi, Patna, Indore, Karnataka, Kerala and the North eastern states.

Lecture on Cross Cultural Diversity

An invited guest lecture was delivered by Dr Anjali Ganesh, Professor, Department of Business Administration, St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, Mangalore on 15th February, 2014 at the Seminar Hall, SDIT on the topic “Impact of Cross Cultural Diversity on people practices – International context”. 

The knowledge sharing process was very effective as Dr Anjali Ganesh elaborated on the overview of Brazil which she had visited and how it differs from India in terms of culture, dressing, preference, language, adaptability of an individual into organization culture and context. Altogether this session was a virtual trip for the students to Brazil in understanding their cross cultural differences and its prominence.

Lecture on Supply Chain Management of Petroleum Products in India

Mr M. L. Sahayadass, Sr Manager Distribution Retail - West, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Chairman, CTCC delivered an invited guest lecture to the MBA students on 14th February, 2014 on the topic Supply Chain Management and logistics of Petroleum Products.The lecture was organised by the Department of Business Administration, SDIT to help the students understand the practical aspects of supply chain management.

Mr Sahayadass having more than 30 years of experience in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, spoke about the various petro-chemical products and highlighted on the petroleum distribution pattern in India. The session was very informative and provided practical knowledge on the distribution of petroleum products to the students.

Workshop on inflation and monetary policies

A workshop on Economics was organised the Department of Business Administration, SDIT on 11th February, 2014 at the Seminar Hall, SDIT. The resource person of the workshop was Dr Nagendra S., H.O.D. and Assistant Professor, Department of MA Economics, Cauvery Centre for P.G. Studies, Cauvery College, Gonikoppal.

Dr Nagendra highlighted factor determining for the credit worthy buyer, strategies of monetary and fiscal policies, dangers of fiscal deficit and also described the Laffer curve which shows the negative impact of the hike in tax rate after certain points which lowers the revenue to the Government.
